Yate: a volunteer is needed urgently to support a man in his 50's with low support needs: he wants someone who will be able to help him access his local community and also accompany to cinema, museums and visits into Bristol. You will be reimbursed travel expenses, be CRB checked and receive support from his Support Service. Contact the Volunteer Centre for more information.
Shopmobility Yate is in urgent need of one or two volunteers to assist the project worker on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Shopmobility is based at Yate Library. The work involves driving mobility scooters from the garage and from clients cars, so volunteers need to be physically fit. The service is open between 9am and 4.30pm (2.30pm on Thursdays), but even a few hours help would be appreciated - contact the Volunteer Centre now for more information.
Yate Heritage Centre is holding three events this year and is looking for volunteers to help. The events are:
Help is needed with Marshalling, Front of House and Practical Support – for more information contact our Volunteer Centre or the Heritage Centre on 01454862200. If you contact the Heritage Centre direct, please let them know that you read about this on our website
Womankind is looking for volunteers for its South Gloucestershire Befriending scheme – the next course starts in March so you need to apply now – contact the Volunteer Centre via our opportunities page (caring).
Can you spare a few hours a week to drive members
of a Yate based Blind Bowling Team to their matches
at Cribbs Causeway and back? A volunteer is needed
every Tuesday between 4pm and 7pm – petrol expenses
paid. Contact the Volunteer Centre.
The Volunteer Centre is recruiting a new team of
volunteers to help develop our organisation. We are
looking for dedicated people with enthusiasm, who
are available during office hours and the occasional
evening for some roles.
We have already recruited two new office volunteers
to assist with the recruitment and placement of
volunteers, but we are looking for volunteers in the
following roles:
Business Guru
Do you have experience of working in the Private
Sector? We are searching for a volunteer who can
work with South Gloucestershire Employers to develop
relationships between the sectors and encourage more
employees to volunteer in their spare time. This is
initially a time-limited role for six months (from
January), but with the scope to be extended. Working
with the Volunteer Centre Co-ordinator you will
research the potential for new initiatives around
Employer Supported Volunteering and organise a
Volunteering Road show Event for businesses in the
Yate area for next spring.
Events Organiser
Do you have excellent organisational skills and the
ability to inspire? As our Events Organiser you will
be responsible for organising and managing the
Volunteer Centre’s prescience at South
Gloucestershire Events. The role will involve
planning events, booking premises, staffing stalls
and managing other volunteers. If you have or wish
to develop organisational and managerial skills this
is an ideal opportunity.
Events Assistant
Your role will be to work closely with our Events
Organiser: representing the Volunteer Centre and
Events and inspiring people to volunteer. If you are
a friendly, enthusiastic person with good
communication skills, who enjoys meeting and talking
to all kinds of people we would love to hear from
you.
Marketing Assistant
You will be responsible for promoting the Volunteer
Centre throughout South Gloucestershire (although
primarily the Frome Vale area). You will research
new marketing opportunities (with a minimal budget);
liaise with local media and design and implement new
marketing materials. This is a challenging, yet
rewarding role for anyone who is creative, can work
on their own initiative and can communicate with
many different types of people.
For these roles you will need your own transport and
out of pocket expenses are paid. Depending on how
quickly we recruit volunteers, the roles will
commence January/February 2010 and there will be a
joint training planned for all our volunteers in
March. All volunteers will receive induction
training and support from the Volunteer Centre
Co-ordinator.
For full role descriptions please email
volunteeringyate@btconnect.com heading your
email with the title of the role(s) which
interest(s) you.
Community Contact
Are you already active in your local community
but looking for a role that will enable and support
you to encourage volunteering amongst other members
of your parish?
We are looking for volunteers to become Community
Contacts in the following areas: The Sodburys, The
Parish of Dodington, West Yate, Wickwar and Frampton
Cotterell. If you would like to act as a link
between where you live and the Volunteer Centre
Yate, we would be pleased to hear from you. It will
most likely be an extension of what you are doing
already but with support, training (if you need and
would like it) and a specific focus. You will be
encouraging more people to volunteer and letting us
know what groups need volunteers. If you are
interested call or email us for a full role
description.
Out of pocket expenses paid.
