Shopmobility Yate is in urgent need of one or two volunteers to assist the project worker on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Shopmobility is based at Yate Library. The work involves driving mobility scooters from the garage and from clients cars, so volunteers need to be physically fit. The service is open between 9am and 4.30pm (2.30pm on Thursdays), but even a few hours help would be appreciated - contact the Volunteer Centre now for more information.
Volunteer Drivers are being recruited across South Gloucestershire for the Home Delivery Scheme – you will need to use your own car (expenses paid): this is more than just a delivery service, so good communication skills needed as you will be visiting elderly and isolated library users.

Driver for Bowling Club

A Yate based bowling club for blind and partially sighted people is urgently seeking a volunteer driver who would be able to take members to the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesdays between 4.30pm –7pm

Yate: the BBC is urgently looking for volunteers to help spread the message about the digital outreach scheme to assist people with making the switch to digital TV. Volunteers are needed to distribute leaflets in the Yate area and also to help at a roadshow in Yate on 28th November.

The Alzheimers Society

is looking for a gardener at its Limes Day Centre in Kingswood. Should be physically fit and help to develop a new therapeutic garden and allotment area.

The Bristol Aero Collection
is in need of some more volunteers to show Concorde to the visiting public. They are also in need of additional volunteers at their museum near Kemble, Cirencester.

Shopmobility:
Yate and Bradley Stoke, volunteers needed to assist with motorised scooter loan scheme in shopping centres. The scheme helps people with disabilities to access shops. Volunteers help when people hire out scooters, deal with new memberships and bookings.

for volunteers to assist with meeting and greeting people who attend Video ID Parade viewings across the area.

This supportive community for homeless people needs volunteer drivers to collect and deliver to and from customers (furniture and household items are restored by the Emmaus community for re-sale). You must be 25+ with a clean licence

Walking to Health Volunteers

Do you enjoy walking? Could you encourage others to increase their fitness, by helping to lead walks locally? The South Gloucestershire Walking to Health team is looking to recruit more volunteers who can help devise, map and lead walks, as well as provide support to other walk leaders. You don’t have to commit to helping at every walk and if you prefer, you can offer your services as ‘middle’ or ‘back’ markers rather than front leaders. To volunteer for these roles, you need to be a competent walker (about 4 miles) and enjoy it! The team is looking for sociable, approachable people who are confident at following route maps/instructions and can attend training.

Frenchay Gardeners: Frenchay Hospital

This group operates from the greenhouse at Frenchay and volunteers help patients with mobility problems, mostly stroke victims to plant seedlings and pot cuttings, which are sold at regular fundraising events.

Volunteers are needed to drive mini-buses or use their own cars to take people to hospital appointments.
