Best Buddies
is a new project set up by the South Gloucestershire Volunteer Centres to provide support into volunteering for adults with learning difficulties. We are recruiting a small number of volunteers from across South Gloucestershire to work as Buddies. You will need to be available for training for 4 half-day sessions during September/October. Volunteer needed to carry out surveying and reporting of woodland conditions; maintenance visits to woodlands;co-ordinating promotion and delivery of community based grant schemes; supporting woodland studies; desk based research and surveying and reporting on access routes: would suit someone with a forestry, landscaping or countryside management background

Motor Neurone Disease Association: Local Volunteers

You could volunteer locally by helping to design newsletters, chairing meetings, managing finances, dealing with correspondence, designing posters – whatever you can do, share your skill

Volunteer Centre Yate: Centre Outreach Worker

Are you outgoing, confident and interested in community work in the Yate area? We are looking for someone to take the work of the centre out into the community, as well as placing potential volunteers and giving general information from our office. You need to have your own transport (expenses paid), be a good team member but also able to work alone and work minimum 4 hours a week during office hours. Full role description available.
Walking to Health Volunteers

Do you enjoy walking? Could you encourage others to increase their fitness, by helping to lead walks locally? The South Gloucestershire Walking to Health team is looking to recruit more volunteers who can help devise, map and lead walks, as well as provide support to other walk leaders. You don’t have to commit to helping at every walk and if you prefer, you can offer your services as ‘middle’ or ‘back’ markers rather than front leaders. To volunteer for these roles, you need to be a competent walker (about 4 miles) and enjoy it! The team is looking for sociable, approachable people who are confident at following route maps/instructions and can attend training.

Retired & Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP)

welcomes anyone who is 50+ and interested in volunteering to contact them. They work in a similar way to Volunteer Centres, matching people to appropriate voluntary work and have specific interests in community, schools, heritage and environment. They are also looking for people to become volunteer organisers.

Penny Brohn Cancer Care:

we have a number of opportunities available with this organisation (formerly called The Bristol Cancer Help Centre). Opportunities range from admin to information production, fundraising and leaflet distribution. They are based in Pill – please ask us for full details.

Enthusiastic Community Fundraisers

are being recruited by the Family Centre for the Deaf – apart from the enthusiasm you should have an interest in Deaf issues and lots of energy! The Centre is also looking for a Fundraiser who has some experience of applying to Trusts for Grants.

Meningitis UK

is setting up a team of ‘adhoc’volunteers to help with stewarding and collecting at events. If you have a few hours to spare from time to time,  this is a great way to meet new people.

Breast Cancer Campaign:

there are lots of ways you can use your skills to help this national charity at a local level – be part of a regional fundraising group, take part in tin collections, organiser events, be a spokesperson…contact us for an application form

Emerson’s Green Village Hall

Village Hall staff are looking for volunteers who are able to assist them at events and/or on evenings when the Hall is open to the public. Tasks include helping to set up an event, help during the event and with clearing away. Urgent offers of help are needed for the Christmas Fair on December 2nd when help is needed in Café, Santa’s grotto and with community stalls. If you do not want to help at events, the Hall welcomes other volunteers willing to help with work such as leaflet distribution.

Kennedy Way Surgery

A patients group at Kennedy Way Surgery in Yate is looking for a “ Meetings Minute Secretary” to take, type and distribute the Minutes of their Committee Meetings, which are held approx 6 times a year in the evening. The volunteer must be a patient from the surgery.
