Yate Library is seeking assistants for a planned programme of workshops on Manga for young people during March/April. If you have enthusiasm for art and want to share it with young people apply now

St John Ambulance is looking for some new volunteers to become Badger Youth Work Assistants in Yate, Chipping Sodbury, Coalpit Heath, Longwell Green and Tytherington. You will be working with children & young people and enjoy structured and comprehensive training.

Young and Free (Bristol)

is a buddying scheme for young disabled adults to socialise with non disabled peers. The emphasis is on friendship and having fun, expanding horizons and gaining new experiences. Volunteers must be 18+.

Children’s Playlink

is recruiting assistants for Summer Playschemes during August in Yate. If you are interested apply as soon as possible as these prove very popular. Volunteers should be 18+ but will consider 16/17 year olds on individual basis. Please state age when applying if under 18.

Home-Start Bristol

is currently recruiting more volunteers to befriend young families for a few hours a week. Volunteers should be parents themselves or have had substantial parenting experience. Apply now as the next volunteer training course starts in September.

Marlwood School, Alveston

is looking for volunteers to help deliver arts workshops to its Youth Theatre Group during term time. Volunteers needed Monday evenings between 7pm and 8.30pm.

Yate Opportunity Group
is a pre-school playgroup for children, many of whom have additional support needs. They are looking for 2 new volunteers to work with the group during their week day morning sessions. Volunteers must be 16+ and previous experience of working with young children on a paid/voluntary or family basis would be an advantage.

Youth Action Team Member:
Volunteers aged 16-25 can help raise the profile of volunteering in South Gloucestershire and support other young people to take action in their communities. You will have the chance to learn new skills, get accredited for your work and have fun at the same time. You’ll need to be able to spare about 8 hours a month and be enthusiastic about volunteering.

Britain’s Pet Charity is looking for locally based volunteers to arrange and carry out visits to schools to talk to children under 12 years about pet care. If you have the confidence for delivering talks to groups and have an interest in animals, plus enjoy working with children apply now!

PowerHouse Youth Club, Staple Hill
is looking for volunteers to assist the Youth Worker. If you are available Friday evenings, enjoy working with young people aged 10-18 and taking part in youth activities this could be the ideal role for you.

Children’s Playlink
is looking for volunteer Play Rangers to be positive role models and encourage outdoor play in public parks. Volunteers are required Monday – Thursday between 3.30 and 6pm at various sites across South Gloucestershire.

Fromebank Junior and North Road Community Primary Sshool in Yate are appealing for volunteers to join their Governing Bodies, providing you with an excellent opportunity to make a difference in your community. Anyone over the age of 18 can apply and you do not have to be a parent or have any particular skills. Befriend and support a family who have a child with learning difficulties. This can involve sitting with the child whilst the parents/carers have a break, accompanying the family on outings, providing general friendship and support

Schools Asthma Promoter, South Glos

The National Asthma Campaign is looking for volunteers to visit local schools with the aim of promoting the benefits of having asthma policies

Youth Offending Team South Glos – Panel Member

Panel members help decide what course of action should be taken with children and young people convicted of crime for the first time. Involves working with the young person, their family/carers and sometimes the victim.

Youth Offending Team South Glos – Mentor

Volunteer Mentors offer support to young offenders by giving time to take part in activities, discuss problems etc. Volunteers can be any age from 18 and peer mentoring is encouraged.

Volunteers who enjoy having fun and supporting children and young people will find this opportunity exciting and fulfilling. Volunteers may use skills they bring to the groups such as music and dance, but this is not essential.
