The Hawk and Owl Trust South Gloucestershire holds regular meetings and talks in Iron Acton. New members welcome. This active group also carries out nest box site surveys, installation and monitoring, attends school fetes, open days and conservation events.

Blue Cross
Britain’s Pet Charity is looking for locally based volunteers to arrange and carry out visits to schools to talk to children under 12 years about pet care. If you have the confidence for delivering talks to groups and have an interest in animals, plus enjoy working with children apply now!

Zoo Activity Volunteer – Bristol

Help provide a link between with the public and wider community through giving talks, taking close encounter sessions (small exotic animals), face painting etc. Activities both in the Zoo and around Bristol (including South Glos) at various events and schools

Cats Protection league – Home Visitors

Volunteers recruited all over the area to make home visits to potential new owners. Visitors provide a general inspection and give advice.

Slimbridge Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust – various roles

There are many different opportunities for volunteers at the wetlands centre. These include Reserve Wardens, Grounds Wardens, Gardeners, Visitor Centre  Volunteers and Marketing Volunteers.
